WordPress 3.0 was officially released for download today. I’ve written recently about my experiences playing around with the beta and rc releases over the past month or so. WP 3.0 really is a major upgrade filled all kinds of new — or at least new to the wp core– functionality. No more using plugins for custom menus, taxonomies, post-types, etc. And, the default theme is really excellent. In fact, I like it so much I’m currently using it as the basis for my own wordpress ecosphere.
Speaking of which, I’m also using it as the foundation for a new project site for my next book on sex and crime in Bourbon Quito, though with a few CSS tweaks it looks nothing like my other sites. That site will be up soon, and will be a work in progress over the next year or two. For now, though, I have to finish the copy edits for the first book.
