The World Digital Library is now up and running, and has some really interesting resources for teaching Latin American history. There are currently 320 items listed for Latin America and the Caribbean, second only behind Europe. Many of the images are fantastic– maps, manuscripts, photographs, etc. I’ve only looked at a few, but I’m already impressed by the potential of the resource. What is more, the collections are searchable from a number of different vantages– with not only keyword searching, but also collection links by country, timeline, etc. Finally, most of the images I saw were downloadable as tiff files, and the quality is very impressive.
Check it out! If you don’t you won’t be alone, @librarycongress tweeted that as of 15:00 GMT, the new site already had more than 2 million page views.
Great resource! Gracias Chad.
